Make local business information accurate and useful

Local search work starts with an eligible business presence, accurate coverage, useful website information and a dependable inquiry route.

Check the business model first

A Business Profile depends on the real operation: customers visit the business or the business travels to customers. Do not create a virtual-office listing merely to target another city. Confirm the current requirements in Google’s Business Profile guidelines.

Keep a master business record

  • Real-world business name.
  • Accurate address and service-area model.
  • Business-controlled phone, email and website.
  • Actual customer-facing hours where applicable.
  • Relevant categories and services.

Build local pages for customers

Explain availability, service constraints, contact arrangements and relevant local evidence. If neighbouring locations share the same offering and there is no distinct content, a useful service-area page can be better than repeated city pages.

Reviews and local discovery

Ask actual customers for honest feedback without incentives or review gating. Respond without exposing private details. Google describes local ranking in terms of relevance, distance and prominence; adding more locations to a description does not remove distance constraints. See Google’s local ranking guidance.

Measure the next step

Separate profile interactions from actual calls, inquiries and qualified opportunities. An increase in map visibility is useful only if the business can serve and respond to the people it reaches.
